'Cagà de la Burra' or 'Poo from the Donkey' occurred yesterday (Sunday, September 15) in several towns in Spain 's Alicante region. Benidorm -based YouTuber 'Benidorm by Ana' recently shared a video explaining more about the event, describing it as "one of the strangest [traditions] in the entire world".
She explained how people gather around a donkey, which is allowed to walk around a set area. That set area is divided into small, numbered plots. Spectators then bet on the numbered plots, paying €10 (£8.

It was called off at the start of the Covid pandemic, but made a glorious comeback in 2021.
It also appears to be very popular. According to BomRadioBenidorm , all 500 of the numbered plots were purchased at the event this weekend. The town's mayor accompanied the donkey to the festival area, where there was also live music, bars and food stalls.
