He died after being struck by a Metro-North train at the Talmadge Hill station around 11:10pm Saturday, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department confirmed in a statement. The collision did not appear to have any criminal aspect, cops said - adding how the high schooler was pronounced dead at the scene. The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said Elliott's cause and manner of death remained pending.



The New Canaan Superintendent of Schools praised the teen for his prowess on the ice and as a student. 'There are really not any words for this,' Egan said in his own statement.

'You lose a member of your family, that's what it is. It's hard on everyone. It's hard on the students, it's hard on the teachers, and everybody just wants to do the right thing.

' The day he died, Elliott played a hockey game in a fall league not connected to his school but included many of the same players, his father, Scott Kropf, told the Stamford Advocate. After that, he went home in showered, after going out to dinner and spending time with a friend, his dad said. At some point he left again, but he never returned.
