We don’t know about you, but Bella Hadid will agree that Daisy Duke—the fictional character first played by Catherine Bach, and later, Jessica Simpson in the 2005 film adaptation—is the best part of that iconic retro TV series. I mean, how can you not love Daisy’s penchant for denim cut-offs and cowboy boots ? Apparently, Bella Hadid is a fan of the country-western look, too: This summer, the model and Orebella founder has been sporting looks that are very Daisy Duke. But get this: They’re not at all costumey, but instead totally fresh and modern.

Recently in L.A., for example, Hadid emerged wearing a classic pair of light-wash denim cutoffs with a red wrap-tied top.

With a sleek leather whipstitched belt and understated suede Coach bag, it felt like a more understated approach to Daisy Dukes—right down to her slouchy leather cowboy boots, which are very much made for walkin’ . Earlier this summer, Hadid wore a similar look when she stepped out in New York City wearing micro jean shorts with a graphic Moth Apparel tee. It goes to show that, even decades after the show went off the air, 1970s Daisy Duke style still resonates.

It’s all about leading with the frayed shorts , and keeping the rest of the outfit streamlined. And naturally, you can leave it to a supermodel like Hadid to keep the saucy look going into 2024. In these cool getups, she looks ready to speed-race down an open field in a yellow 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner—Daisy’s signature car, duh .
