The old Edwardian Beecroft Art Gallery by Council last year, being swept up by Property Point Homes who have lovingly redeveloped the building and put it on the market as nine luxury flats. The £1.8 million project in Westcliff Avenue, near the Cliffs Pavilion has stunning sea views and remains largely unchanged apart from new windows and an incredibly authentic retiling of the hundred-year-old roof.
Anne Jones, Labour councillor responsible for housing and planning, has praised the developer for going “above and beyond what they needed to do”. She said: “I was invited to have a tour of the unfinished levels of the old Beecroft and there was an undeniable appreciation for the building, the history is something you really don’t see. “It was really special, I just have to commend their enthusiasm and undeniable care and attention, it is very expensive as well to restore Edwardian buildings and it is in such a beautiful location.
” Ms Jones added the sale of the site and the money goes towards the Beecroft Trust and allows them to acquire more things. “There have been a few great exhibitions at the new Beecroft, I have worked there quite a lot and I have really enjoyed it,” she said. “It is great to see something like that, which is interactive and immersive in our High Street, it is a great legacy for the old Beecroft.
