'Beautiful' UK swimming spot named one of the best in the world - but there's one problem Scotland boasts some of the most impressive coastal views in the UK and the Isle of Skye is a prolific hotspot for outstanding natural beauty. On the northern slopes of the magnificent Black Cuillin range, you'll find Skye's famous Fairy Pools - small pools of crystal-clear blue water. The enchanting formation snakes down the hillside of Coire na Creiche into Glen Brittle, where it becomes the River Brittle, and has long been known as a must-see destination on the Isle of Skye.

Recently the pools were ranked in the top eight most idyllic wild swimming spots in Europe by researchers at StressFreeCarRental.com, who compared the Fairy Pools to the likes of Lac d'Annecy in France and Lake Lungern, Switzerland. However, the "beautiful" spot has been criticised by recent visitors who have all said the same thing about the Scottish gem.
