Eight years ago, one of the most glamorous society Europe has ever seen took place: Pierre Casiraghi, the grandson of Grace Kelly, married , the beautiful daughter of an Italian Count and a member of one of the most ancient aristocratic families in the country. On the eve of the US presidential election back in 2020, friends, DC insiders and Melania herself told Ben Judah how a small-time Slovenian fashion model rose to wear the mantle of First Lady The celebrations began on 25 July in , with a civil ceremony and party for more than 700 guests at the Grimaldi Palace and the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo, hosted by the groom’s mother, , and uncle, Prince Albert II (husband of ). The bride wore a beautiful pale pink lace chiffon gown for the ceremony, designed by Valentino.

It was to be one of a handful worn across her various celebrations. This was followed by a religious ceremony and reception held in northern Italy on 1 August, on the islands owned by the Borromeo family in Lago Maggiore. The former was attended by a small group of family and guests on the smaller island of Isolino de San Giovani, while the party afterwards saw some 600 guests joining the couple on the island of Rocca d’Angera.



The picture of elegance, Beatrice Borromeo (now Beatrice Casiraghi) wore a boat neck, lace sleeved gown by for the religious ceremony, changing into a low-cut, sleeveless gown for the reception afterwards. For the pre-wedding dinner on the Friday evening, she wore a lace-trimmed white gown by Alberta Ferretti with silver gladiator sandals, as well as flowers in her hair. But what role will she play in his politics? The wedding was attended by the wider Monégasque royal family, including the groom’s siblings, Andrea and Charlotte Casiraghi, his half-sister, , as well as his aunt, , and her daughter, Pauline Ducruet.
