A "very special" documentary will be made later this year to honour the life of the late presenter Dave Myers. Dave, who died at the age of 66 in February, less than two years after revealing his cancer diagnosis, will be remembered in a touching tribute by his friend and Hairy Bikers co-star Si King, now 58. The upcoming BBC documentary, titled The Hairy Bikers: You'll Never Ride Alone, will see Si pay homage to his late co-star and fellow chef.
As reported by PA, the programme will air just before Christmas on BBC Two and will document the memorial journey of 45,000 bikers from London to Dave's hometown of Barrow-in-Furness, which took place in April this year. In the one-off special, TV host Si will reflect on moments from his 25-year career and friendship with Dave. The hour-long show will utilise archive footage, new interviews and unseen clips to celebrate Dave's life and his double act with Si.
On making the new documentary, Si expressed: "It was a very special show to pull together. Full of nostalgia, laughs and celebration of my best friend and his life," reports the Mirror . Andrew Mackenzie, the show's producer, spoke about the "outpouring of love" for Dave and said it was a "real honour" to work on the documentary after his death.
He stated: "The outpouring of love for The Hairy Bikers this year has been extraordinary and it was a real honour for everyone who has worked with them to document Dave Day (the celebratory bike ride) and celebrate Si and Dave's friendsh.
