There has been a huge shake up at the BBC Radio 5 Live studios after a personal rift between two presenters caused disruption across the station. According to the Sun, an internal source has revealed that Tony Livesey mistakenly sent an email criticising Clare McDonnell's presenting skills directly to her. As a result, Clare has reportedly refused to continue working with her co-host of nearly two years.
The incident has left BBC Radio 5 Live in turmoil, with staff shuffling to cover new roles as management scrambles to address the fallout. A source familiar with the situation told the Sun: "Clare received a message from Tony basically slagging her off and she was livid. "She no longer wants to work with him and that has caused total chaos at the station.
People are being shifted all over the shop and into different slots, which isn’t going down well. "Clare is well within her right to be angry — but it’s made the atmosphere at 5 Live really frosty. It has become a nightmare there.
" Following the dispute, the drivetime show has been hosted in separate shifts. Earlier this week Clare presented with co-host Johnny I’Anso, while Tony paired up with Leila Nathoo for the Wednesday and Thursday radio slots. The BBC announced that there would be a change to the BBC Radio 5 line up earlier this month, but did not provide any further details about the reasons for this shake up.
