Scott Mills, who's been covering for Zoe Ball on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, made a hasty exit from the airwaves on Monday after claiming listeners had taken issue with his laugh. As he passed the baton on to today's mid-morning show host Mark Goodier, stepping in for Vernon Kay, Scott cut the usual chit-chat short but confirmed he'd be back tomorrow. During the handover, Mark greeted him by saying: "Good Morning, just to prove once again that I was listening very early and you were mentioning the horses that are actual listeners of your show.

" Scott quickly interjected: "They're a bit annoyed because of my laugh." He then quipped: "Mark, if you could take over now because I've been having real problems since you left," reports the Express . "Saying, 'Great British group vote' isn't the easiest, so I'll get my coat and see you tomorrow at 6.

30." Before Mark could even reply, Scott switched off his microphone and left his colleague to take over Vernon's show. Commenting on the abrupt departure, Mark said: "I've never seen such a quick exit.

" Scott's comment was in reference to the station's 'battle of the bands' event for National Album Day, where listeners are encouraged to vote for their top five picks from an extensive list that features the likes of; Coldplay, Girls Aloud, Bee Gees, and Duran Duran. The presenter has been the temporary host for Zoe's BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show for several weeks now, while the reason behind her ongoing absence remains undisclosed. On August 12, he kickstarted her show by swiftly calming listeners' potential fears that they'd slept in until his regular slot at 2pm.

At the time, he didn't share why Zoe was away but sent "all his love" to his missing co-star. A Radio 2 representative has told Express.co.

uk that Zoe is set for a comeback later this month. The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show airs weekdays from 6.30am on BBC Radio 2.
