BBC Radio 1 host Danny Beard has revealed they would never be interested in signing up to Strictly Come Dancing . The RuPaul Drag Race star, who has previously hosted their own show on BBC Radio 1, revealed they're a huge fan of reality TV, but doesn't feel Strictly would be right for them. Speaking to the Mirror , they said: "I’m a massive, massive reality television nerd, so I would jump at the chance to do quite a few shows, probably not Strictly.

I'm probably one of the only z-listers you'll ever meet that will say they don't want to do Strictly, purely because I've got two left feet and I know I'd make an absolute t**t of myself." Strictly came under fire earlier this year after it launched an investigation into allegations of bullying. Earlier this year, with the probe underway, BBC bosses announced plans to introduce chaperones as part of a string of extra measures.

Reflecting on the recent controversy, Danny said: "It's the biggest and best show on television, and it provides such an escape. People forget, as artists, as drag queens, as actors, as dancers, whenever we do something, we're doing it because we want people to enjoy and escape and Strictly is the best show on television. "You're always going to get critics.

Change is good, as long as people feel safer, that's a great thing. But with something so big, there's always going to be a bit of scandal, a bit of gossip, a bit of something to say. So I say, ‘Let them say it’ you can never control what everyone says about you, you can only ever control what you put out and Strictly are the best at doing that.

" Danny is currently on tour and has teased a night of "scandalous behaviour, lots of laughs, and an honest insight into what life’s really like as a Z-list ‘celeb’ as the host of BBC3’s The After Shave". The RuPaul’s Drag Race UK winner revealed they fear acceptance of drag is regressing in some way due to a current "transphobic narrative" They continued: "There's a lot of different skills that go into being a drag queen. I'm a singer, a presenter, a comedian, a makeup artist, a costume designer, and I do the whole show and direct it and write it myself.

So it is actually a very skilled art form that goes back to Panto, and like when we were all growing up, one of our favourite characters was Mrs. Doubtfire so we've always been entertained by drag and playing around with the nuances and stereotypes of gender. "I just think when people hear that word now, it triggers something different in their mind because of the rhetoric and some right wing publications and politicians, which is sad.
