Kris Marshall, famed for his starring role in BBC One's popular series Death in Paradise, has admitted it "was a first" after one of his shows got cancelled before being revived again. Sanditon, the period drama born from Jane Austen's unfinished novel, surprisingly made a comeback with its second series in July 2022, having initially struggled to captivate an audience, resulting in its cancellation after a single season. Reflecting on his participation in the unexpected return of Sanditon for a second outing, Kris previously shared with RadioTimes: "It is the first show I've been on that has been cancelled, then reinstated.
" He acknowledged the tenacity of the show's fans, particularly their efforts following the surge in popularity in the United States, commenting: "The fans did that after it took off in America, organising an incredible campaign to bring the show back." Kris reminisced about witnessing impressive sand art tributes fashioned by fans on the beach near where they filmed, which he described as "relentless".
