Casualty enthusiasts are starting to fear for Jacob Masters (played by Charles Venn) as his relentless pursuit of his son Blake leads to serious strain on his working relationship with colleague Jan Jenning (Di Botcher). Saturday's (August 10) episode of the BBC medical drama served up a rollercoaster of emotions for die-hard fans. One storyline saw a number of viewers scared for Jacob's future.
Jacob has been fervently searching for his son, following the revelation that Blake had fathered a child named Carter. Responsibilities fell onto Jacob when it emerged that Carter's mother was imprisoned and Blake was nowhere to be found. Yet in the latest instalment, it seemed that Jacob's personal life was encroaching on his work performance, potentially jeopardising his career.
This led fans to express their concerns across social media platforms. One apprehensive fan posted: "Jacob is pushing Jan to her limit lately. He'll be lucky to still have a job as a paramedic by the end of this series the way he is going", reports Wales Online .
While another remarked: "Jacob You're pushing Jan too far." Elsewhere, a third chimed in asking: "How many times is Jacob gonna get told 'not to put them in that position again?'" Amidst the uncertainty, there was a glimmer of hope for Jacob towards the end of the show. Much to his shock, Jan let slip that she'd received a tip about Blake's possible location.
This unexpected turn might offer Jacob a chance to redeem himself, although Jan cautioned him to handle the situation delicately, given the delicate circumstances regarding his family. After spotting Blake with a gang of lads, Jacob yelled across to him and, in a panic, Blake bolted triggering a frantic pursuit. Blazing through the streets, Blake ducked and dived to escape his father's grasp, but Jacob was relentless and eventually pinned him down, unveiling his secret hideout.
However, eagle-eyed viewers were thrown into confusion, noting an apparent switch-up in the actor portraying Blake. A perplexed fan tweeted: "As far as I'm concerned Blake is still missing because who is this guy??!" And yet another viewer puzzled over continuity, asking on social media: "So has Blake been recast in #Casualty? And why has Elle not been mentioned once?"
