BBC Breakfast's Jon Kay was left scratching his head during a segment on Monday's show. The latest episode of the popular morning programme featured a piece about luxury advent calendars, some of which were priced at an eye-watering £640. Jon, 54, couldn't believe that people would shell out such a sum, with co-host Sally Nugent observing: "Jon can barely look, look at Jon's face" to which he responded: "I can't believe this! I cannot believe this, people saying they pay £40 even just seems an extraordinary amount of money.
" In a light-hearted moment, Jon told Sally: "I just told Sally I'll make her one just like you used to make in the old days" to which Sally, 53, retorted: "I already know, I'm going to get you the beard grooming one." However, Jon was left further puzzled by the idea of a beard grooming advent calendar, asking: "I have to do that for 24 days? How much beard grooming can you take!" He added that he had plenty of questions but thankfully there are 100 days until Christmas to answer them all, reports the Express . Viewers also expressed their confusion over the segment.
BBC Breakfast tweeted: "Would you spend hundreds of pounds on a luxury advent calendar? On #BBCBreakfast with exactly 100 days until Christmas, Nina has been looking at their popularity." Fans were quick to chip in their opinion with one viewer saying: "No way!", while another pointed out: "I love the advent calendars with just the old fashioned pictures behind the windows, my wife buys me one every year for my birthday on the 1st Dec and she says they are getting really hard to find these days" while another added: "It's September..

" It comes as Jon shared what he dubbed the 'proudest moment' of his life on last Monday's show. Spilling the beans on his weekend antics, Jon told viewers he'd thrown his hat into the ring in a baking contest at the local village show, rustling up some tasty cheese and onion pasties. With the camera panning onto a snap of Jon's culinary handiwork, his co-host Sally couldn't hide her surprise as she blurted out: "You made that?" To which Jon proudly replied: "I made it!" Not missing a beat, the host cheekily hinted: "You might be able to spot a rosette in the bottom left of the picture, Sally.
.." with his co-star adding: "Jon, look at you!" However, there was more news to be shared as Jon asked: "What's the number on the rosette?" with Sally sarcastically asking: "Did you win?" to which an excited Jon exclaimed: "I won it!" Sally added: "You won first prize in a baking competition!" Explaining the competition, Jon said: "Contrary to my children's speculation there were other people taking part in it, I think there were about 10, maybe 12?" A pictured was shown of Jon proudly holding his creation to which Sally joked he looked as though he was in 'disguise'.
However, Jon pointed out a detail as he commented that he wasn't sure if any of the judges actually tried it as there were no bite marks as it had only been cut open.
