BBC Breakfast viewers were quick to call out an issue during Thursday's show as an interview took a cringe-worthy twist. Presenter Naga Munchetty was in conversation with Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds about the government's new employment rights plans, live from Chester-Le-Street. However, it became apparent that Jonathan was struggling with his earpiece which kept falling out.
Spotting the problem, Naga asked: "Jonathan, can you hear me? I'm just concerned your earpiece may have fallen out, is it all fine?" With the MP clearly unable to hear her, a member of the BBC production crew had to intervene. Naga then said: "We're just going to get the technical group. This is what our brilliant people who you never see on camera do.
We're just getting the earpiece sorted for Jonathan Reynolds, we'll try again." After apologising for the technical glitch, Naga continued with the interview, reports the Express . However, as Jonathan began answering her question about the employment rights bill, it was clear the earpiece was still causing problems.
Despite trying to fix it himself while speaking to Naga, she praised him for attempting to carry on, saying: "Well done with the earpiece! Thank you very much." As the interview concluded, Naga and co-host Charlie Stayt couldn't resist making light of the situation. As Charlie passed the baton to weather icon Carol Kirkwood, he quizzed: "Carol, you got your earpiece all sorted out? No problems there? Got it under control?" With a chuc.
