BBC Breakfast's Jon Kay has candidly shared his concerns about his eyesight, revealing he thought "something was wrong". The 54-year-old returned to the iconic red sofa on Wednesday, joining co-host Sally Nugent to delve into the day's top stories. During a segment where they reviewed the morning papers, Jon came across an article that piqued his interest.
Sourced from the Guardian, Jon discussed a study indicating potential widespread vision problems among children. He relayed: "There is a university in China which has done research in countries all around the world, thousands of kids involved and it says they think one in three children are short-sighted and they think it's because we're spending too much time on our screens! ". Sally, clearly surprised by the findings, exclaimed: "On our phones! Of course".
Jon elaborated: "It was heightened by the pandemic when kids had to work from home, spending more time on their phones, more time away from their friends, not socialising.
