BBC Breakfast: Carol reports on an 'autumnal' turn in weather BBC Breakfast turned frosty this week as Ben Thompson snapped at weather presenter Carol Kirkwood . Carol was in the studio for a change and presenting her usual segment in the vicinity of hosts Ben and Sally Nugent – but unfortunately she didn't have good news to deliver. Sally asked Carol if she'd be "singing", apparently in a good mood for a Wednesday morning (August 21), but Carol was quick to cut her down, replying: "You might not be singing too much about the weather when you hear what I’ve got to say, Sal.

"The weather for the next few days is – I’m trying to think of a polite way to put it...

not great." Put off by her negativity, Ben then snapped: "Okay done, that’s it. We don’t need any more.

" Carol Kirkwood was majorly snubbed (Image: BBC) Sally seemed a bit more compassionate, echoing: "Not great. That’s the technical term for it." Carol's weather report promised "wet and windy weather", along with the "risk of flooding and disruption" across the country.

Picking up on the quickly fading summer, Sally commented: "Now Carol, it’s August and it does feel quite autumnal doesn’t it?" Trying for a glimmer of hope in the darkness, Carol responded: "It absolutely does, that’s a brilliant way to describe it this week Sal, yes. Don't miss..

Sadly not all of her report was so positive, as Carol promised: "Dry weather for some to start with, some brightness around; but through the morning rain’s going to romp in across Northern Ireland, Scotland, northern England and north-west Wales.

"Some of this rain will be heavy,” she warned, “and accompanied by gusty winds.” Trending SUBSCRIBE Invalid email We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you've consented to and to improve our understanding of you. This may include adverts from us and 3rd parties based on our understanding.

He swore: “No-one will see those pictures, ever!” Carol snapped back: “That’s what you think, Ben!” as Sally retorted: “We’ve got them all, haven’t we?” “We have, they might be published,” Carol cheekily threatened.
