BBC BREAKFAST continues to go through changes amid the show being disrupted by Olympics coverage. Regular Monday to Wednesday presenters Jon Kay and Sally Nugent , were nowhere to be seen this morning (August 6). Much like yesterday, weekend presenter Ben Thompson filled in alongside Sarah Campbell , as the pair delivered the latest headlines.

They were joined by Carol Kirkwood , who updated viewers on the day's weather . Meanwhile, Nina Warhurst presented a report on water company Ofwat. As BBC’s coverage of the Olympic Games began at 6:45am on BBC One this morning , the breakfast show was forced to switch channels mid-broadcast.

The breakfast show followed the same format last week and had been criticised for cutting out vital segments like the local news and weather reports. Another change saw Ben front and centre in the BBC studio for Sunday morning’s show, but his regular co-star, Luxmy Gopal , was missing from the sofa.

Taking to X, a viewer wrote: "Missus just wondered why is there only one presenter on Sunday’s BBC Breakfast but two during weekdays?” Most read in News TV The disruption comes amid viewers furiously complaining after "graphic" scenes were aired in Sunday's episode. The weekend edition featured a report into a botched weight loss surgery, but some were left sickened by the sight. Fans watching at home were taken into the operation theatre , showing a woman who'd been forced to live on a liquid diet after £2,000 horror surgery in Turkey.

Patient Pinky Jolley was seen getting corrective surgery - but some were upset by what they saw. Surgical implements were used on Pinky's stomach and a camera revealed the damage inside her digestive system. The Beeb offered viewers the chance to change channel as they were warned about the scene beforehand.
