The BBC expert dashed to medics after his hands started tingling, unaware of what his diagnosis could be. The on-screen star revealed he is a keen fencer and he was later told he had suffered a painful trapped nerve.

Thomas said: "The thing is I'm a fencer. I fence three times a week and I'm going to continue fencing. "They have released it [the trapped nerve] and massaged it and hopefully within a week it will sort of stop.
