A manslaughter probe has been launched over the disaster of the Bayesian yacht sinking which killed British billionaire Mike Lynch, his teenager daughter, and others aboard. At least five people have died in the tragedy when the superyacht capsized in stormy weather on Monday morning amid reports of a water spout suddenly developing. Now, Italian authorities are “investigating shipwreck and multiple counts of culpable manslaughter” after the doomed super-yacht went down off the coast of Sicily.

The Prosecutor's Office of Termini Imerese, led by Ambrogio Cartosio, is working to find out why the luxury vessel capsized off the coast of Porticello near Palermo. Investigators are also set to look at videos and photos from homes close to the area, as well as surveillance cameras, according to Palermo Today . Prosecutors earlier interviewed yacht captain James Cutfield, 53.

It was reported he was questioned at great length about what happened the day of the incident. He told them it happened in a "few minutes". It comes a day after Italian coastguard identified the bodies of those found on board the sunken £30million yacht, including British billionaire Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah.

Jonathan Bloomer, his wife Judith Bloomer, lawyer Christopher Morvillo and his wife Neda Morvillo were also been named by rescue teams. An autopsy of those found dead is expected to be ordered by prosecutors in the coming hours. Mr Lynch's wife, Angela Bacares, survived.

The trip appeared to be a celebration after Mr Lynch's acquittal of fraud and conspiracy charges in a US federal trial related to Hewlett Packard’s $11 billion (£8.4 billion) takeover of his company, Autonomy Corp. Some guests included some of the people who had stood by Mr Lynch throughout the ordeal.
