The international competition, renowned for delivering some of the best images in the world, has revealed its list of winning entries this year. Topping them was Palestinian photographer Ali Jadallah's crushingly emotional image of a desperate woman in Gaza weeping as she mourns next to the body of a loved one.
The photo was selected from thousands of entries worldwide and clinched the prestigious contest's highest accolade for its 'raw emotion and evocative narrative'. But other snaps in the line-up included sensational pictures of nature in action. From a showjumping dog gliding through the air and flying fox skimming the water's surface, to a dramatic battle between two bull elephants.
All the winners will be on display at the festival in Sienna until November 28. Now MailOnline has selected some of the best images from this year's contest. Gliding through the air showjumping dog Bagheera is captured as she leaps over the first hurdle.
The breathtakingly crisp image was captured by Francesco Junior Mura and showed the 'unbreakable bond between human and dog' wit.
