Citroen is steering towards a new chapter with its latest offering, the Basalt coupe-SUV, first model in the segment. Set to debut on August 2, this model is already turning heads with its striking design. Now, the company has revealed the design of the production-spec SUV , further elevating the anticipation around the model.

While the manufacturer has been competing in the highly-congested midsize SUV space with the C3 Aircross, the Basalt is debuting into the mix with a stunning design language - thus bringing a feel of luxury to the masses. In fact, if design is the only thing to go by, the Basalt appears to be a threat to the segment and could possibly mark a turnaround for the French manufacturer in the Indian SUV market . The Citroën Basalt departs from traditional SUV design with its sleek coupe-like roofline.

It boasts a distinctive two-slat chrome grille, streamlined LED headlights with the brand’s signature X-shaped split DRLs, and diamond-cut alloy wheels. The SUV also includes silver skid plates, an integrated rear spoiler, and wraparound LED tail lights with a three-light stripe design, creating a sharp look. Other key highlights include a sculpted clamshell bonnet, 3D-effect air intake grilles and more.

Overall, in a glance, you can clearly see sleek, flowing lines. Moreover, it gets colour clips near the rear windows and front bumper. Its roofline extends seamlessly to the trunk lid, while the tailgate design enhances the car’s width and sense of space.

The Basalt is anticipated to come with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, delivering 110 hp and 205 Nm of torque, and will offer both manual and automatic transmission options. Inside, it may feature a 10.

2-inch touchscreen, a digital driver’s display, six airbags, wireless charging, automatic climate control, and push-button start. With this design, when this model enters production and becomes available, improvements in interior quality, which have been a concern in previous models, along with solid performance and competitive pricing, could make it a key factor in the brand’s success in India and help establish a unique position in the market..
