Dr. Paul Barnes will speak Friday at the LMTA Dessert Social. The Lincoln Music Teachers Association will host a Dessert Social from 7-8:30 p.

m. Friday, Aug. 30, at Christ Lincoln Church, 4325 Sumner St.



(enter through the doors off the main parking lot). The event is free and open to the public, especially present music teachers, students, retired or future teachers. Dr.

Paul Barnes, Marguerite Scribante professor of music and co-chair of the Piano Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music, will give a talk titled “Beauty Will Save the World: How our music students can flourish with a positive view of reality.” Music will be provided by a trombone ensemble directed by Alex Hoffman.
