She was a devoted wife to her late husband, James DeCosta, whom she married on September 5, 1964. Barbara’s vivacious spirit, infectious laughter, and unparalleled dedication to her family were the hallmarks of her life, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Barbara was a proud and hardworking woman who retired as a sales clerk from Walmart in Leominster, MA, in 2023.
Her work ethic and dedication to service were admired by her coworkers and customers alike. In her retirement, Barbara found joy in simple pleasures. She was an avid knitter, a voracious reader, and she found delight in solving word searches.
As Helen Keller once said, “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.” This quote encapsulates Barbara’s love for visiting with family and friends, and the importance she placed on fostering deep, heartfelt connections.
