KONTIKI Finance has boosted the upcoming Banana Cup tournament with a $2000 sponsorship, handed over by marketing manager Joni Moce at the Suva Bowling Club yesterday. This support follows Kontiki’s successful sponsorship of the Pineapple Cup in September, highlighting their commitments to fostering local sports. The Banana Cup, a national event held for over 60 years, is expected to feature 20 to 30 players, including younger talents under 20 and national representatives.
Event coordinator Litia Tikoisuva shared her excitement, saying, “We are looking forward to a good weekend, and may the best team win.” She emphasized that the tournament’s unpredictable nature can see experienced players challenged by newer talents. “We have some national reps that are going to take part but then if it is your day, it’s your day.
No matter how good you are, you can be beaten by a fairly new bowler,” she said. Moce encouraged families and community members to attend the tournament this weekend, noting that the sport involves strategy and precision and promises to be an enjoyable experience with entertainment, food, and beverages available. “It’s a beautiful sport because it’s not only about rolling the ball, but about strategy and precision as well.
So, I want to urge all the family and friends to come down this weekend to check out the competition,” Moce stated. As excitement builds, Kontiki Finance and tournament organizers look forward to bringing the community toge.
