(ANN/THE STAR) – Indonesian actor Baim Wong is reportedly determined to proceed with divorcing his wife, fellow actress Paula Verhoeven, after attempts to resolve their marital issues through mediation (sulh) failed on Wednesday. According to Baim’s lawyer, Fahmi Bachmid, the actor has accepted that divorce is the only viable solution to the ongoing conflict. “He wants to resolve his marital issues and bring everything to a close through divorce,” Fahmi told Indonesian media, as quoted by mStar, The Star’s Malay-language news portal.

The lawyer also revealed that Baim had been contemplating the decision for over a year and has been living separately from Paula for the past seven months. While Baim, 43, has been vocal about his decision, Paula, 37, has chosen not to comment publicly on the matter. The couple, who wed in November 2018, share two young children—Kiano, aged three, and Kenzo, aged two.

Baim, whose real name is Muhammad Ibrahim, officially filed for divorce on October 7, citing infidelity as the cause. He accused Paula of having an affair with a close friend, a claim that has yet to be publicly addressed by Paula. “I held on for a year because of our children,” he said during a press conference.
