5 at the Avon Olde Town Hall, 36995 Detroit Road (corner of Stoney Ridge and Detroit roads). It’s sad when an old house is demolished. But, when a house is demolished, architectural salvage is important, as these structures contain beautiful hand-crafted features made of old growth wood.

For the past 25 years, Nahorn has salvaged over 60 doors, and other materials from old houses, mostly representing the 19th century. Nahorn will take guests on trip through early Lorain County history, reviewing some prominent early architectural styles. org K9 donation: The Avon Police Department recently announced on Facebook that Brady’s K9 Fund has generously donated a ballistic vest for the department’s four legged officer, K9 Draco. Brady’s K9 is dedicated to providing essential equipment and resources to K9s, ensuring they are well-equipped and protected for their entire shift, according to information in the social media post. Brady’s K9 Fund was founded by an 8-year-old boy who felt K9 officers deserve body armor, just like their human partners.

Jewelry scholarship honors: At the recent conference of the Independent Jewelers Organization (IJO) held in Chicago, IJO President Stephen Barnes announced that Madison Webster of Peter and Company Jewelers, was awarded an educational scholarship for the study of Pearls.

NORTH RIDGEVILLE Contract negotiations: City officials and the Police Union, Ohio Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association (OPBA), have been in contract negotiations for the last several months, according to information posted on the city’s website. On April 17, 2024, the City and Police Union/OPBA blue and white units went to Fact Finding as a mutual agreement could not be reached on three issues.

The Fact Finder’s report was recently issued and the Fact Finder found in favor of the City on all three issues, according to information posted on the city’s website. LORAIN COUNTY JVS grant: The Lorain County Joint Vocational School (JVS) recently announced its selection as one of 73 semi-finalists in the national Career Z Challenge through the U.S.
