US low-cost carrier Avelo Airlines is spreading its wings further with the announcement this week of a new service to Atlanta, resuming three of its popular Florida destinations and adding another aircraft to its Wilmington Airport base. These moves bring even more convenient and reliable air services to travelers in the Philadelphia and Delaware Valley areas. Avelo adds more at ILG On Tuesday, Avelo Airlines (Avelo) released details on changes it is making at Wilmington Aiport (ILG) that will significantly expand its presence in the Delaware Valley.

Perhaps the most notable development is the launch of nonstop flights to the world's busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL). The new route commences on November 8, and it will be operated with a Boeing 737 Next-Generation narrowbody, one of the 19 737NGs in the Avelo fleet. Avelo has an all-Boeing 737 fleet that includes the 737-800 and 737-700 variants that will service the twice weekly flights on a Monday and Friday.

That's two months in a row for the reliable low-cost carrier. Airlines across North America are adding more flights to popular sunshine destinations as travelers look to secure their winter getaways over the 2024/2025 winter season. To help them with that, Avelo Airlines is also resuming services in November from Wilmington to three Florida hot spots, Daytona Beach, Palm Beach and Sarasota-Bradenton.

Point to Point flying Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy said Avelo is proud to be the Philadelphia / Delaware Valley region's airline of choice and continue growth at Wilmington Airport, with a new route to Atlanta and the return of Daytona Beach, the Palm Beaches and Sarasota-Bradenton. "Our customers tell us they love the convenience, affordability and reliability of flying Avelo at ILG. I appreciate the support Avelo has received from community leaders across the state and send special thanks to our awesome ILG crewmembers who make it all happen.

" The three Florida routes will operate twice weekly. Flights to Daytona Beach (DAB) will start on November 7 and operate on Thursdays and Sundays. The service to Palm Beach (PBI) will start on November 8 and operate on Mondays and Fridays.

The route to Sarasota-Bradenton (SRQ) will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays from November 23. Gate to gate is just over an hour. Avelo now serves 13 nonstop destinations from ILG: Atlanta (ATL), Charlotte / Concord, NC (USA), Myrtle Beach, SC (MYR); Wilmington, NC (ILM); San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) and eight cities in Florida: Daytona Beach (DAB), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Fort Myers (RSW), Orlando / Lakeland (LAL), Orlando (MCO) , Palm Beach (PBI), Sarasota-Bradenton (SRQ) and Tampa (TPA).

To facilitate the increased activity, Avelo is placing another Boeing 737NG at Wilmington Airport, where it employs more than 100 Crewmembers. Avelo first started flying out of ILG in February 2023, and since then, it has carried more than 400,000 passengers on nearly 3,000 flights. In total, the airline has carried more than 5.

2 million passengers on more than 40,000 flights since its launch in April 2021. The airline operates to 54 destinations across the US, Mexico and Jamacia from five bases, with a sixth to open in Central Florida's Lakeland International (LAL) in November. The current bases are at Wilmington (ILG), Los Angeles Hollywood Burbank (BUR), Southern Connecticut's Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN), Raleigh-Durham (RDU) and the Bay Area's Sonoma County Airport (STS).
