Authorities have identified the dead body that was found west of the Trail Creek area in eastern Power County on July 28. The remains have been identified as Lynn Edward Lachappelle, 70, who was reported missing to the Pocatello Police Department on July 11, according to a news release from the Power County Sheriff’s Office. “The Power County Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to the family and friends of Mr.

Lachappelle,” the news release said. Pocatello police and Power County sheriff’s deputies located Lachappelle’s body around 6:50 p.m.



on July 28 after receiving a tip on July 27 that his vehicle, a silver Nissan Titan, was observed west of Pocatello in Power County. Lachappelle’s body was located a short distance from where the vehicle was found, authorities said. Police said the incident remains under investigation but there is no threat to the public.

This is the second dead body that was discovered recently in the Pocatello area. A dead body was found in the Portneuf River near North Main Street in Pocatello on July 13. Police have not yet released the identity of the deceased in that case, which remains under investigation.

Bannock County Coroner Torey Danner says biological evidence obtained during an autopsy on that body is currently being entered into databases in an attempt to identify the remains and more information would be released if a positive match is confirmed. Police said there is no connection between the two dead body incidents..
