Local author Sherry Mowell Barker's second book, "Details Unspoken," has been released to Amazon and Barnes & Noble. A book release party will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 4-6 p.

m. inside Allandale Mansion. You may drop in anytime and have your book signed if you have already received it from Amazon or Barnes & Noble.

There will also be some copies at the book release party for sale that day. Barker's first book, “Eventually, This Too Shall Pass,” was published in 2008. The new book is a memoir and would be considered a spiritual uplifting and encouraging read.

The book has been picked as one of the American books to be offered at the World Publishing Book Fair in Frankfurt, Germany, in October. Barker was raised in Rogersville and lives in the Tri-Cities area, where she works and has taught piano lessons for 33 years. She is married to husband Alan, and together they have five children and three grandchildren.

Barker said she tries to find humor in all situations of life, and she honors God in all she does or has ever overcome. Barker said she has already had several people reach out to her regarding this book due to some of the subjects it covers such as mental illness, abusive relationships, single parenting and forgiveness. Barker said her hope is that by her telling her story, it will help others to know they are not alone — especially those within the Christian community.
