Monday, August 19, 2024 As Australia’s international travel sector bounces back to pre-2019 levels, a few key destinations are driving the resurgence. The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) reports that in 2023-24, the number of Australians returning from short-term trips was 32% higher than the previous year, reaching 98% of 2019 levels. Since January 2024, travel numbers have consistently hit or surpassed 100% of pre-pandemic levels, except for a slight dip in May.

Australia’s international travel rebound is being powered by strong interest in destinations like Indonesia, New Zealand, the U.S., the UK, and Japan.

With travel numbers reaching or exceeding pre-pandemic levels, these countries continue to be top choices for Australian travelers looking to explore the world..
