Friday, November 29, 2024 A recent survey conducted by the Tourism & Transport Forum (TTF) reveals that despite ongoing financial pressures, Australians remain enthusiastic about their upcoming summer travel plans, particularly during December and January. The survey, executed by Pure Profile between November 20–25, 2024, captured insights from over 2,000 Australians aged 18 and above, offering a clear picture of travel preferences and expectations for the upcoming holiday season. Australians’ Summer Travel: Increased Journeys, Shorter Durations The survey highlights that Australians are planning to extend the duration of their travels this summer, compared to previous years, with travel restrictions now a thing of the past.

The allure of both domestic and international destinations is drawing more travelers than ever before. However, it also revealed that older Australians are showing more caution in their spending habits, opting for shorter vacations and a tighter budget compared to younger generations. While a significant portion of travelers is still focused on domestic holidays, a growing number are beginning to explore international options as the global tourism industry recovers.



Trip Duration and Budgets: Shorter Getaways and Modest Spending When it comes to trip duration, most Australians (53%) are opting for shorter getaways of 2–7 days, reflecting a trend toward more frequent, yet concise vacations. A smaller portion (32%) is planning to take slightly longer .
