QUEENSBURY—Austin Lane passed away on August 10, 2024, surrounded by his family at Albany Medical Center after a complication with his valiant fight with brain cancer. Born on March 22, 1988, in New Braunfels, TX, to Faith (Gorton) Speck, he was raised and lived in Glens Falls, NY. He graduated from Glens Falls High School in 2006 where he participated on the football, baseball and ski teams.

Thereafter, Austin became one of the local’s favorite bartenders, where he spent many years before he began his career at Saratoga Eagle, and quickly excelled at his dream sales job, making lifelong friends along the way. Austin enjoyed spending his free time playing golf, men’s softball and he loved skiing and snowboarding, but his greatest joy in life was coaching his kids’ sports teams. Austin and Samantha fell in love in the Fall of 2011, after knowing each other their whole lives, growing up on the same street for most of their young lives.



One of Austin’s most exciting moments was his hole in one on July 7, 2015, three days after getting engaged to Samantha, he called it his “meant to be” week. Austin and Samantha welcomed three beautiful children into this world, and they will forever be Austin’s greatest pride and joys of his life. He was a passionate fan of the Los Angeles Raiders, the Baltimore Orioles and whatever team Lebron James played for.

Austin was carefree and always lived life to the fullest, even during all of the trials and tribulations life threw his way. Austin was predeceased by his grandmothers: Eva Gorton and Beverly Speck and his grandfathers: Charles Speck, Sr. and LZ Lane.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Samantha of eight years; his three children: Nolan, Porter and Cecilia; his mother and step father, Faith and Charles Speck; his sister, Morgan (Dan) Synder; his grandmother, Carol Morgan; his mother in-law, Toni (Jody) Clark; his father in-law, Scott (Victoria) Mason; his sisters in-law: Amanda Mason, Sarah (Aaron) Enns and Meresa (Jake) Dailey; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Austin on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, for calling hours from 4:00 p.m.

to 7:00 p.m. at Singleton Sullivan Potter Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury, NY.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 15, 2024, at St Mary’s Church, 62 Warren St.

, Glens Falls, NY, with a burial being held immediately after at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 225 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12839. A special thank you to Dr.
