Australian actress Pia Whitesell has been spotted wearing one of Bunnings' iconic $7 straw hats while holidaying in Sydney. The ex Home and Away star, 41, donned the humble hat as she sailed the city’s famous harbour on New Year’s Day. Her multi-millionaire American husband, Patrick Whitesell, 59, also wore the wide-brimmed accessory at one point as the couple sought to escape the Australian sun on their luxury liner.

In images seen by The Daily Telegraph, the actress kept the hat close to her while lounging on the deck with friends and family. Whitesell later sat perched on the edge of the liner wearing a green bikini and wrap-around sarong, with the hat in tow. It's not the first time the actress has shown off a typically Australian accessory on her Sydney holiday.

Whitesell wore a quintessential cork hat on Instagram stories just days ago, typically used to discourage bush flies from swarming around the wearer's head. She said former Home And Away producer Julie McGauran gave the actress the hat she called "the best gift ever." Whitesell switched to her usual glam appearance as she farewelled 2024 aboard the New Year's Eve liner, wearing a shimmering dress and hair styled in loose waves.

The 41-year-old and her husband partied to DJ music with her sons Isaiah, 20, and Lennox, 16, before watching Sydney's world-famous fireworks display. Hailing from Chile, Whitesell's star rose in 2014 when she joined the cast of Home and Away as Katarina 'Kat' Chapman. She earned a nom.
