Elizabeth Debicki has become the first Australian to win Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Princess Diana in Netflix's The Crown at the annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Hollywood's biggest stars dazzled on the red carpet for the the 76th edition of the awards at Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon. Debicki donned a class black scoop-neck gown by Dior as she claimed the nod, adding to The Crown's extraordinary 23 Emmy's from 87 nominations including one by Emma Corrin for her role as younger Princess Diana in the final season of the hit historical drama.

She beat other nominees Christine Baranski from The Gilded Age, Nicole Beharie for The Morning Show, Greta Lee for The Morning Show, Lesley Manville for The Crown, Karen Pittman for Mia Jordan, and Holland Taylor for The Morning Show. The Australian actress proudly posed with her award in the press room at the glitzy celebrity event, showing the golden Emmy to the cameras with a shy smile. She used her acceptance speech to thank English screenwriter Peter Morgan for "making the show" and "trusting me with this".



“Our cast are so beautiful. It is such a gift to work with you. Gosh, playing this part based on this unparalleled, incredible human being has been my great privilege.

It has been a gift. Thank you so very much,” she said. Debicki received the same nomination for her work on the series at the 2023 Emmys, however was beaten by Jennifer Coolidge for her role as Tanya in The White Lotus.

She joins Australian representative Naomi Watts on the red carpet. Watts is nominated for Lead Actress in a Limited Series for her role as Babe Paley in Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.

The 55-year-old, who dazzled in an emerald green silk down and red lip, attending the night with her husband of one year Billy Crudup, 56, for the first time together. Crudup picked up Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role in The Morning Show and affectionally mentioned Watts as he took to the stage for his acceptance speech. "I'm happy to be here with my piece of eye candy there, my wife," Crudup said while his elated wife beamed in the sea of A-listers.

"Who also happens to be an immigrant and also gave a searing performance this year for which she's nominated, and she starts businesses too, so it's nice to be by her side." He rounded out his speech by the loved up couple's mixed children from former partners William Atticus Parker, 20, Sasha Schreiber, 17, and Kai Schreiber, 16. Jeremy Allen White claimed winner of the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Liza Colón-Zayas took home Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Richard Gadd accepted the Outstanding Writing For A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie award for Baby Reindeer. American Actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach took home the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for The Bear. Jen Statsky, Paul W.

Downs, and Lucia Aniello accepted the Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series award for The Hacks, while John Oliver claimed Outstanding Scripted Variety Series for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. American comedian and writer Jon Stewart, cast, and crew received the Outstanding Talk Series nod The Daily Show. Sky News.
