Buyers can save almost $5000 per square meter, or 48 per cent, by buying an established apartment, the research by found.

It is a fact not lost on the medico couple. “We bought it in 2019, and moved in three years ago, in April 2021,” Dr Cooke said. “We bought it just before the property boom but we also sold in the same market.

“I have been having a look at what is around, and what has been sold, and off-the-plan, it is much more now than in 2019.” 601/12 Bailey Street, West End Dr Cooke said they were not sure yet what they would purchase next – a house or an apartment – but it was time to downsize. “We both like our jobs, and when you are in the medical field you become quite wedded to it,” she said.
