CHELMSFORDAttorney Thomas B. Doyle, 71, a longtime Chelmsford resident, passed away on August 18, 2024, in his home and surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of his high school sweetheart, Joan (Hennessy) Doyle, with whom he shared 45 wonderful years of marriage.

Born on February 7, 1953 in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late James A. Doyle and Helen A. Doyle.



Tom moved to Chelmsford as a boy where he made a home for the rest of his life. He graduated from Chelmsford High School in 1971 and served as Class President for all four years. He completed his undergraduate degree at Springfield College and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1975 and earned his Juris Doctor Law degree from Western New England Law School in 1978.

Tom then began his career as an attorney in Chelmsford where he would practice law for 45 years. He cared deeply about his work and loved his clients.Tom enjoyed sports and played varsity baseball at Chelmsford High School and volleyball at Springfield College where he played in the 1974 men’s NCAA volleyball Final Four.

He later played in the Chelmsford Softball League for many years. His greatest joy, however, came from coaching his two boys and their friends little league and youth basketball teams. No matter how busy he was at work, Tom never missed a game.

Tom loved travelling and enjoyed many Caribbean and European trips with his wife and best friends. He also shared many memorable fishing trips with his two sons. They traveled from Maine to Alaska and everywhere in between.

Tom enjoyed many wonderful seasons at the family beach house on Granite Point in Biddeford, Maine. It was his Heaven on Earth.Tom loved working in the yard, was an avid reader, a great chef, an accomplished chess player, and well versed in many other topics.

Tom was very much his own man and was never afraid to voice his heartfelt, honest opinion whether it be personal, political, or life advice. He unapologetically said it the way he saw it.Above all else, Tom was a devoted family man.

He deeply loved his family, friends, and dogs. He proudly conveyed that his two sons were the best thing that ever happened to him.In addition to his loving wife, Tom leaves behind his two sons Andrew W.

Doyle and his wife Shannon (Harrington) Doyle, of Chelmsford; Jeffrey J. Doyle and his wife Janeka (Haass) Doyle of Melrose; his four beautiful grandchildren, Charlotte, Olivia, Emmy, and Teddy Doyle; his brother James Doyle and his wife Nancy of Hudson, NH; and his sister-in-law Jane Hennessy of Fountain Hills, AZ; and cherished nieces and nephew, Molly Hennessy, Amanda Marenghi, and Jamison Hult and their families. He also leaves behind his beloved dog Bentley and his grand-dog, Colt.

Tom is pre-deceased by his father-in law William Hennessy, his mother-in-law Marjorie Hennessy, and his brother-in-law James Hennessy.Your life was a blessing,Your memory a treasure,You are loved beyond words,and will be missed beyond measure.Rest in Peace Tom, Husband, Dad, Brother, Grandpa, and Friend.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 9 am ‘ 12 pm in the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 12:00 noon following the visitation.
