Tuesday, August 27, 2024 ATR marks a historic moment, delivering its 1,700th aircraft to Air Corsica , setting a new benchmark in aviation history and celebrating remarkable achievements. Formed in 1981 through a strategic collaboration between Aérospatiale of France (now part of Airbus) and Aeritalia (now integrated into Leonardo), Avions de Transport Régional (ATR) has made a significant impact on the aviation industry. This partnership laid the foundation for ATR to become a leading manufacturer of regional aircraft, known for its commitment to innovation and quality.

ATR reached a major milestone in its journey by delivering the 1,700th aircraft since the inception of its program. This achievement underscores the company’s sustained growth and its ability to meet the evolving needs of the aviation sector. The 1,700th aircraft was delivered to Air Corsica, a valued customer with a long-standing relationship with ATR.

ATR’s success story is rooted in its legacy of excellence. The journey began with the ATR 42-200 , which received its Type Certificate from both the French Directorate General for Civil Aviation and the Italian Civil Aviation Authority in 1985. This certification was a crucial step in establishing ATR’s reputation for reliability and performance.

The company’s first major delivery took place in December 1985 when the French regional airline Air Littoral received the inaugural ATR 42-200. This marked the beginning of a series of milestones for ATR, including its 500th aircraft delivery in 1997, further solidifying its position in the market. Continuing its upward trajectory, ATR celebrated the delivery of its 1,000th aircraft in 2012 and its 1,500th aircraft to IndiGo in November 2018.

Each of these milestones reflects ATR’s unwavering commitment to its customers and its ability to adapt to the dynamic demands of the aviation industry..
