ST. LOUIS — This fall, music fans will be able to catch national and local acts in the Grove for the first time since 2020 when Atomic Cowboy shuttered. The Gramophone went from being a concert venue to a sandwich shop in 2015, and HandleBar and HotJava primarily bring in DJs for themed dance parties.
Now the former Atomic Cowboy space at 4140 Manchester Avenue will be reborn as Atomic by Jamo and include an outdoor stage named Atomic Pavilion. The venue announced its inaugural lineup of acts on Friday and it is as chameleonic as St. Louis itself.
You can catch bluegrass/alt-rock singer-songwriter Keller Williams (Sept. 7), indie rock band STRFKR (Sept. 13), jazz-fusion band Snarky Puppy (Sept.
26) and reggae act Black Uhuru (Sept. 28). Hip-hop legends Digable Planets (Oct.
4) will grace the stage in October. The outdoor space is behind the venue and has a capacity of 1,000. Atomic will also include an indoor space in the same industrial style as Atomic Cowboy, according to a press release.
In the future, there will also be a restaurant called Atomic Lounge. The venue promises to be a combination dance spot with a night club and "cocktail-forward bar program" as well as a music venue. It is run by Randi Kranz, an award-winning bartender and Drew Jameson, a former Atomic Cowboy employee, who is now the managing partner of Jamo Presents, a concert-promotion venture that is behind many shows at the Big Top in Grand Center and other venues.
This will be Jamo Presents' first bri.
