You know how girls do cartwheels, skip to class, and smile all day long while on their periods in sanitary napkin commercials? In real life, it doesn’t quite feel that way. In fact, we girls can experience a rollercoaster of emotions, cravings, aches, and pains during periods – but the expectation to hustle like nothing’s wrong never seems to go away. Shouldn’t it be okay for girls to fully embrace the ups and downs of periods without any pressure? Don’t worry, we see you.
Kotex is here to tell girls that it’s absolutely normal to be all up in your mood during your period. The good, the bad, the ugly – it’s all welcome at the Kotex Mood House. Last October 21, Kotex welcomed us to the Mood House, a space built for girls to embrace their feelings and find their own means of comfort.
Guests could fulfill their food cravings at the Munch Haven, tap into their creativity at the make-your-own-bracelet Charm Bar, smash their rage away with a hammer at the Chaos Corner, or find their confidence with a portrait at the Empowerment Wall. The set of booths was curated so that girls could embrace every mood without judgement through Kotex Luxe. The event’s theme was born from Kotex’s extensive market research, including face-to-face insights from girls in schools.
What they found was that aside from the physical discomfort of periods, girls also felt internal turmoil with their emotions. You know how people say, “She’s probably on her period,” when girls are any.
