Friday, November 29, 2024 The central government has sanctioned a substantial amount of Rs 200 crore for the development of two iconic tourist destinations in Assam—Rang Ghar and the Assam State Zoo. The announcement was made by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday, 29th November 2024. In his social media post, Sarma expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the special assistance provided under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment.

“Heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister @narendramodi ji for approving close to Rs 200 cr to develop Assam’s two iconic tourist sites—Rang Ghar and State Zoo under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment,” CM Sarma wrote. This funding is expected to catalyze the much-needed upgrade to the infrastructure at these landmark locations, making them more accessible and enhancing the overall experience for both domestic and international visitors. Rang Ghar, situated in Sivasagar, is an ancient amphitheater that dates back to the 18th century and stands as a symbol of the region’s rich cultural heritage.
