Rezaul Huda Faraji, commonly known as Rakibul and a prominent figure in the All Assam Minorities Students' Union (AAMSU), has been implicated in an oil theft operation in Kaliabor. Rezaul, the son of Ruphihat MLA Nurul Huda, is currently evading capture, prompting a vigorous search by local authorities. In a significant crackdown on oil pilferage, the Kaliabor police successfully apprehended five members of a notorious oil theft gang.

The arrests, led by the sub-divisional police, resulted in the seizure of two luxury vehicles and Rs 1 lakh in cash. The arrested individuals have been identified as Alam Ali from Tezpur Kachari Pam, Jamaluddin from Bagari in Kaliabor, Ibrahim Ali from Kholihamari in Samaguri, Abdul Khalil from Bhomoraguri in Tezpur, and Taher Ali from Kaliabor. The police confiscated two luxury vehicles bearing registration numbers AS 12 AE 8977 and AS 12 AA 2648.

During the investigation, a financial link between Rezaul Huda Faraji and the oil theft ring was uncovered, involving a Rs 60,000 alleged transaction from the bank account of Ibrahim Ali to Rezaul. In light of this evidence, the police have intensified their search for Rezaul, conducting night raids at the MLA’s colony in Guwahati.

Despite these efforts, he remains at large. The police, led by SDPO Rupjyoti Dutta, have not yet issued an official statement regarding Rezaul’s involvement, but the operation to apprehend all individuals connected to the theft ring continues. On the other hand, the legislator Nurul Huda has refuted claims that his son is involved in the oil theft racket.
