A smart Asda shopper managed to save a whopping £40 off his food bill by spotting 'Asda Rewards' labels on shelves during his weekly shop. The regular customer noticed these labels in his local Sheffield store and decided to download the app. This app encourages shoppers to buy certain products to earn money back, which they can then convert into vouchers to spend in-store which can very quickly rack up in value.

Some products offer up to 10 per cent back into your Asda Rewards wallet, while 'Super Stars' give even more, allowing him to quickly accumulate a large discount voucher. The shopper said: "After I downloaded the app I noticed the 'Star Products' labels on various shelves. Sometimes they were hidden, for example an 'out of stock' label might be covering up a product label if it hadn't been changed by a member of staff.

"Other times, I'd be stood weighing up whether to buy one product or the other when I would check the app and realise that one of them was offering credit back on the purchase. "For instance I was trying to buy some cola cans and they had £2.50 back on Coke Zero, but weren't offering anything on Pepsi despite being a similar price per can.

So I ditched the Pepsi and bought just under £30 worth of Coke Zero, which instantly gave me £7.50 in my wallet." The savvy shopper revealed how he got his £52 Asda grocery haul for just £12.
