Asake is busy breaking glass ceilings at every opportunity. An artist who commands respect across the diaspora, his sound – afrobeats meets rap with stadium inclinations – is bolstered by an incredible sense of ambition. Each album from this Nigerian hyphenate exists in its own realm.
If debut album ‘Mr. Money With The Vibe’ displayed a talent ready to soar, then 2023’s ‘Work Of Art’ was a phenomenon in its own right. Returning earlier this year with the fantastic ‘Lungu Boy’, Asake is ready to claim the world as his own.
Packing out the O2 Arena in London, the evening turned into a portrait of an artist with friends in high places. Joined by a glittering cast of guests, Asake displayed an incredible flex, welcoming the likes of Wizkid , Stormzy , LeoStayTrill , Idris Elba (and more) to the stage. With the crowd reaching fever pitch, the performance felt like a breakthrough, a moment of ascension for a bold talent.
