Pune: Deputy CM and NCP chief Ajit Pawar , in a clear signal to BJP's Harshvardhan Patil that he was making a strong claim on the Indapur seat for the assembly elections, on Friday said nobody has ensured better development for the constituency than him and his party's incumbent MLA Datta Bharne . He took out a massive rally in Indapur tehsil as a part of his ongoing Jan Sanman programme and appealed to people to support his party in the coming elections. During his speech, Ajit Pawar listed out the number of projects Indapur got when Bharne represented the tehsil in the assembly.

"Our govt has provided over Rs5,000 crore of development projects for Indapur tehsil. No other representative of Indapur, since the formation of Maharashtra, has got more funds for the tehsil. The maximum funding for Indapur came during Bharne's term from 2019 to 2024," Ajit Pawar said.

The Indapur seat was once a stronghold of BJP member and former cabinet minister Harshvardhan Patil, who was earlier with Congress. However, during the political rivalry between Harshvardhan and Ajit Pawar, the latter ensured Bharne's victory from Indapur. With the change in political equations after Ajit Pawar joined Mahayuti, both Harshvardhan and Bharne are now staking a claim on the Indapur seat.

While Harshvardhan is trying to contest the seat by requesting senior BJP member and deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, Ajit Pawar's signal was clear that he would not leave the seat for his alliance partner. "Bharne has done tremendous development work for Indapur. Only Bharne and I have the potential and courage to develop Indapur.

We will continue to carry out the unfinished work for the tehsil, for which we require the support of Indapur's people," the NCP chief said.
