Union home minister Amit Shah in Palamu NEW DELHI: As long as the Bharatiya Janata Party is in India, the religion-based minorities will not get a reservation , Union home minister Amit Shah warned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday after the oldest party promised to give reservations to Muslims. Addressing a rally in Jharkhand 's Palamu, Amit Shah asked if the reservations would be given based on religion that what will happen to dalits and tribals. "Congress party talks about reservation.

There is no provision for reservation on the basis of religion in the Constitution. We can never give reservation to any particular religion. In Maharashtra a group of Ulemas gave them (Congress) a memorandum that Muslims should be given 10 per cent reservation and the state president of Congress party said that we will help you in this," the Union minister claimed in a rally.

"I have come to ask the people of Jharkhand that if Muslims get 10 per cent reservation then whose reservation will be reduced? The reservation of backward classes, Dalits and tribals will be reduced. I want to warn Rahul Gandhi from here. Rahul Baba, whatever conspiracy you have in your mind, as long as Bharatiya Janata Party is there, minorities will not get reservation in this country," he added.

Shah labelled Congress as "anti-OBC", asserting that their governance consistently disadvantaged the OBC community, particularly regarding the implementation of both the Kaka Kalelkar Committee and Mandal Commission.
