WESTON, W.Va. (WV News) — Members of the Arts Council of Weston are excited for what 2025 has in store for their new Fiber Arts Program, which is aimed at inspiring creativity within the community.

Launched in January 2024, the Fiber Arts Program has quickly become the council’s most successful initiative, according to organizers. The program is free and open to all, offering a welcoming environment for creative expression. Meetups take place every Monday from 5:30 p.



m. to 7 p.m.

or later depending on circumstances. The program starts back up Monday at West Hall, located next to St. Paul’s Church in Weston.

Participants are encouraged to explore various aspects of fiber arts while building relationships with others who share similar interests. Board member Spring Hull said the program initially focused on crocheting and knitting, but is set to expand in 2025 to include fashion design, quilting, weaving and spinning. “This is basically a cultural starter program to get people involved and out of their home with things they would normally do at home but to get them to do it socially,” she said.

“This year, we are going to have different programs to draw people in and those programs are going to be financed with grants and donations. So it is more likely to get people out if they don’t have to invest quite as much.” The program has the potential to explore the rich cultural traditions of West Virginia while learning about this style of art, Hull said.
