Tuesday, January 21, 2025 Arajet, the Dominican Republic’s low-cost airline, has celebrated a significant milestone with two of its pilots earning flight endorsements for the Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft. The endorsements were granted by the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), the country’s aviation regulatory authority. Both pilots, Víctor Cruz and Yoryi Bonilla, have been promoted to captains by the airline.
To achieve this authorization, Cruz and Bonilla successfully met rigorous requirements and completed extensive testing. Their qualifications include more than 5,000 total flight hours, with over 1,000 hours flown as first officers aboard Arajet’s Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft. IDAC’s general director, Igor Rodríguez Durán, visited Arajet’s facilities at the José Francisco Peña Gómez Americas International Airport in Santo Domingo to personally commend the pilots on their achievements.
He also praised Arajet for its commitment to fostering Dominican talent and promoting the development of commercial aviation in the country through various training programs. “IDAC works hand in hand with air operators to strengthen the sector; we will always be willing to promote Dominican talent for their training and, thus, that they manage to occupy the spaces in the industry, and become a benchmark in the region,” Rodríguez added .
