A planning appeal has been launched after an application to build an extension and convert a roof of a Bolton house were denied. The plans were lodged for a house on Parkway in Daisy Hill , Westhoughton , with the erection of single storey extensions at the side and rear as well as an increase in ridge height to accommodate a loft extension. The application, which was made by Ryan Cunniff of RPC Architectural Design on behalf of applicant Jon Richards, was submitted on June 17 this year.

The decision notice said: "The proposed development, by reason of its scale, design and massing as a result of the 1.5m increase in ridge height would have a detrimental impact on the character and appearance of the dwelling and surrounding area and is therefore contrary to policies JP-P1 of the Greater Manchester Places for Everyone joint development plan, OA3 of the Core Strategy and the 2012 House Extensions SPD.
