Pune: The local transport utility will finally launch a new mobile application — Apli PMPML — on August 17 with a host of features for passengers to help them plan their journeys, after multiple delays. “We will inaugurate the app on August 15, and it will be made available for Android phone users on August 17,” Satish Gate, Pune Mahanahar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) public relations officer, told TOI. The development of the mobile application was under way for more than a year.

Earlier, the transport body had an application named PMP e-connect, which was launched in 2017 by former CMD Tukaram Mundhe. However, after his sudden exit in early 2018, the application became redundant. “Apli PMPML application has several features such as information on all buses and their routes, live bus tracking, issuing of tickets and passes and a complaint registration centre.

An important feature is that one can buy tickets for Pune Metro through the PMPML app ,” a PMPML official said. Passengers, through the live tracker feature, will be able to know the location of the bus and its estimated time of arrival at the stop. “There could be initial teething issues, but we will identify and resolve them once the application is floated,” the official said.

Regular passengers have welcomed the move and hoped for its continuity. “I hope the application works and sustains for long and is not another brief affair. If properly functional, the app will be of great help to all commuters,” Rajendra Kadam, a regular commuter, said.
