A new apartment hotel could open above a town centre beauty store. The proposed development above the Superdrug shop in Montague Street, Worthing, will comprise 33 apartments if plans are approved. The first floor would offer a mix of commercial premises and hotel use.

A second and a third floor will then be added to make space for more of these hotel apartments. The aparthotel will have a digital check-in system and the only staff on site will be housekeeping.



The new facility would have no impact on Superdrug. A spokesman for Tor and Co, the agent representing the applicant, said: "The aparthotel will play a pivotal role in enhancing the local tourism economy. "By not having a restaurant or a bar, it will encourage guests to frequent hospitality venues within the town centre.

"By offering high-quality accommodation, it will attract a diverse range of visitors, including business travellers, tourists and longer-stay guests. "This influx of visitors will therefore have a significant positive impact on local businesses such as restaurants, shops and entertainment venues, leading to increased revenue and job creation.
